"I always begin painting without a plan. I start and see where it goes. Only afterwards meaning (might) appear.

Here I started with the Opel Manta, placing myself next to it as a taxi driver. The car is not a retro gimmick but a ‘vessel of atmosphere’. It carries power, aspiration, and identity. It points to a sort of rebellious nature that operates outside society.

Then the setting unfolded: Den Haag Central Station but put into a dreamlike landscape. The landmark building becomes something erratic. Maybe part of a vague memory, a dream… or part of a longing fantasy.

And why a taxi driver? It is a job that combines service and autonomy. Very much like an artist… It is about finding direction in chaos.

And the station? It is where I always arrive home safe. It is a threshold between two worlds. From train to taxi... a shift from the public world to one's own, individual, authentic path. One shaped by doing, not overthinking. That’s where inspiration lives, and maybe what it means to be an artist."
