Paul Kostabi

Paul Kostabi

Paul Kostabi is an American artist and musician whose work sits at the intersection of visual art and music. Emerging from New York’s East Village scene in the 1980s, he developed a bold, graphic painting style influenced by punk, pop culture, and mass media.

Alongside his visual practice, Kostabi has been active as a musician, most notably as a member of White Zombie. He has also collaborated with artists such as Iggy Pop and Debbie Harry. This close connection to music culture is reflected in his work, where rhythm, repetition, and immediacy play a central role.

Kostabi’s work has been exhibited internationally and is included in major collections, including the Museum of Modern Art. His paintings combine a direct, almost naive visual language with sharp observations on contemporary culture.
